It’s innovation at its finest— the top student startups presented their projects at the University of Illinois Research Park Monday afternoon.
The student teams are a part of UIUC’s iVenture Accelerator, a program that supports students as they work on launching their own startups.
Monday’s Demo Day gave the teams a chance to show off their designs after months of hard work.
DisplayOne’s display was all about the showcase.
“At DisplayOne we make products to showcase and protect the things you care about,” DisplayOne Founder/CEO Edward Mejia said. “Our first one is for sneaker collectors.”
Across the room, the buzz was all about menus. Menu3 created augmented reality restaurant menus to simply your food purchasing decision.
“We think it’s important to show people not just the food, but also how big it is,” Menu3 Founder/CEO, Viktor Makarskyy said. “We’re partnered with a few restaurants on campus to show users and customers exactly how their food looks.”
GrayMatters also put out an eye-catching display. The startup combats incidents of undiagnosed concussions in athletes by delivering affordable and fashionable concussion indicating headwear.
“This is an electronic sensor and what it does is it indicates concussions,” GrayMatters CEO, Gina Li said. “If someone gets a concussion in a boxing ring. or on the field, football, soccer any type of contact sport.”
